Jurice's murder has left behind her Daughter to continue on without her Mother in her life

Jurice was stabbed to death by her boyfriend, Tracy Wainright, 41. They were fighting in the hallway outside their apartment at the time of the homicide.

The night of the homicide they were drinking with friends and relatives in the apartment building where they lived. They began to argue because Jurice thought Tracy was interested in another woman. During the argument, Jurice followed him into the hallway. She accused him of cheating on her and pushed him. According to eyewitness accounts, he said that if she pushed him again he would kill her. Jurice drew a small knife and stabbed him in the arm. He had a larger knife and with an over hand grip stabbed her in the chest.

Jurice and Tracy had been in a relationship for 12 years and were living together for the last 8 years. There was a history of domestic violence in their relationship. Family members heard Tracy threaten to kill Jurice on several occasions. Two years earlier, Tracy stabbed Jurice which sent her to the hospital. According to the police report from that incident, he said, “I’ll kill you. If I can’t have you nobody will”. A week before the homicide, while talking to Jurice on the phone, her daughter heard Tracy yelling, “you’re getting on my nerves, you ain’t gonna stop until I kill you”.

Tracy Wainright was charged and convicted of Second Degree Reckless Homicide and sentenced to five years in prison with five years extended supervision.
