Rhonda was allegedly hit and killed by a car being driven by her boyfriend, James Ricky Cunningham, Jr., 24.

Witnesses told investigating officers that they had seen Rhonda and Cunningham arguing and fighting before Cunningham ran over her with his vehicle. After physically assaulting Rhonda, Cunningham struck her at high speed with her car as she was running for help.

Immediately after that, Cunningham struck a flatbed truck occupied by a Mr. and Mrs. Smith and their child and sent it and its occupants over the edge of a cliff. The occupants in the truck, which included a one-year-old infant, were trying to help Rhonda.

Cunningham has been charged by the Grand County Attorney's Office with first degree felony murder, as well as attempted homicide on the lives of the three occupants of the truck.
